Lucifer has officially completed his American Kennel Club S.T.A.R. Puppy training course — and passed with flying colors! This program is all about building confidence, good manners, and a strong foundation for future training, so it’s a huge accomplishment for a young dog.
For those who haven’t met one before, the Mudi is a rare and remarkable herding breed that originated in Hungary. Mudis are known for being incredibly intelligent, energetic, and versatile. They excel in dog sports like agility, obedience, herding, and even search and rescue. With their quick minds and eagerness to work, they thrive when given a job to do — which makes training milestones like this extra exciting!
Lucifer’s journey isn’t stopping here. Dr. Crainick has her sights set on earning his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title next, and the S.T.A.R. Puppy course is the very first step toward that goal. We can’t wait to cheer them on as this talented pup continues to grow and shine!
What is the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Training Course?
It is training classes teach you how to best communicate with your puppy. Organized training classes also provide an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs. In classes aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you’ll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including housetraining, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC® Canine Good Citizen Program.
What is the Canine Good Citizen Program? It’s basically a good manners diploma for dog.
Created by the American Kennel Club, this program celebrates pups who know how to be polite members of society, at home, at the park, and everywhere in between.
To earn their CGC title, dogs show they can:
- Walk nicely on a leash
- Greet people without jumping
- Stay calm around other dogs
- Come when called
- Handle distractions like a pro
- Be comfortable being touched (hello vet visits and grooming!)
When they pass, they get an official certificate and major bragging rights.
It’s more than just obedience…it’s about confidence, trust, and being a joy to take out in public. Some housing communities and training programs even love seeing that CGC title
